Godly Sorrow Worketh Repentance

Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Many applications can be made from each day's text. Today we continue in the book of 2nd Corinthians with Chapter 7 and in our text we see the Church's repentance gives Paul joy as he sees this Church beginning to mature. He brings up a foundational truth that Godly sorrow worketh repentance but worldly sorrow worketh death. In making application we see a key component to our salvation. Sorrow for our Sins. When the Holy Spirit convicts us as a sinner we see that our sin nailed Jesus to the Cross and being sorry and convicted we have the opportunity to repent, ask, and receive the free pardon of Sin Jesus supplies at salvation. Today, many follow after the world by doing works, repeating a quick prayer, or joining a religious institution - Believing this way will gain them favor with God. The truth is we must come to Jesus-Christ, just as we are, convicted, sorrowful, and repetitive - Believing He paid the price for our sin - calling out to Him to forgive us and save our souls. How about you? Have you followed God's Plan to be Saved? Let us learn from our text today as Paul reminds us that Godly Sorrow worketh repentance unto salvation and we are saved not of works but by grace through faith in Christ-Jesus.
